This class is designed for individuals of all levels. We will guide you through a comprehensive handstand training session, focusing on warm-up exercises, flexibility, conditioning, alignment, kick-up techniques, balance drills, and freestanding practice.
The class will begin with a thorough warm-up to prepare your body for the demands of handstand training. This warm-up will include dynamic stretching exercises and mobility drills to increase blood flow, improve joint mobility, and activate the muscles necessary for handstands.
After the warm-up, we will move into flexibility training. Flexibility is crucial for achieving a solid handstand. You will be guided through a series of stretches and exercises that target the shoulders, wrists, legs, and hips, helping you to improve your overall flexibility and range of motion.
Next, we will focus on conditioning exercises. Handstands require a strong core, upper body, and shoulder girdle. Through a variety of conditioning drills, we will work on building the necessary strength and stability to hold a handstand with control and ease.
Alignment is essential for achieving a straight, aligned handstand position. We will dedicate time to teach and practice proper alignment techniques, including body positioning, hand placement, and body tension, to help you develop a solid handstand foundation.
Kick-up techniques will be covered to assist you in getting into a handstand position from the ground. We will explore different methods such as kicking up with one or two legs, utilizing the wall, or using partner assistance. You will have the opportunity to practice these kick-up techniques under the guidance of our instructors.
Balance drills will play a significant role in developing your handstand skills. We will incorporate various exercises that challenge your balance and proprioception, helping you refine your handstand control and stability.
Towards the end of the class, we will allocate time for freestanding practice. This is where you will have the opportunity to apply everything you’ve learned and practice holding a handstand with or without support.
